Let’s talk about sex

Hello my friends!

Okay, based on the title you already know what this post is about. I don’t just want to talk about sex, I want to talk about our minds and bodies and how sex affects us. To be honest with you, the word sex used to be uncomfortable for me to even say out loud, but if I talk about it more often now, is because I unfortunately wasn’t informed enough about it at an earlier age to avoid the mess-ups I went through and if can help you in someway at whatever stage you are in life, then I’m glad I get to spend time with you now.

The older I get, the more I am aware of how broken this world is. Everything seems to move so quick and our flesh desires instant gratification in about everything. But what stuns me the most, is that sex has become one of the most publicized topic everywhere, yet not everyone seems to be honest about how it really makes them feel. And no, I’m not talking about how it makes you feel in the moment, but after it happens.

Sex is and has always meant to be performed in only one way, which is under a marriage covenant. Why? Because for it is written, “the two will become one flesh.” ~1 Corinthians 6:16. Which means, every time you give yourself to someone there will be a soul-tie between you and that person, even if it was simply a “one night stand” as it’s popular now. I’m not saying this to you simply because it’s what I’ve read in my Bible (I actually hadn’t given my life to Christ until 2017, at the age of 25), but because i’ve lived it, too. I didn’t know any better back then, and I know you may be facing the same reality now. Sex seems right simply because well, everyone else is doing it, right? But what we fail to realize or simply accept is the fact that it almost always leaves us feeling even emptier than we did before.

If you think sex will keep someone from leaving you, fulfill your emptiness, or satisfy your needs, then think again. Sex was absolutely created by God and He wants us to have it, but only if done under a marriage covenant. Sex is a form of worship between two people that come together as one through God. In fact, God tells us that “our bodies are not our own” 1 Corinthians 6:18, and that we sin against our own bodies when we are sexually immortal. This makes total sense to me because yes, when performing sex outside of marriage the only thing left behind is the feelings of shame, fear, and regrets.

And what about our thoughts? Sex outside of marriage affects our minds like no other. Whether it is in person, watching pornography, and even following people on social media that post provocative pictures. Whatever we focus on becomes our reality without  thinking of the consequences. “But I say, walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” ~Galatians 5:16.

What i’m trying to say here, is that no matter what you’ve done or where you are now you can be set free and start fresh. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it, but it can only be done when you fully accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. “For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:20  If God can raise someone from the dead, don’t you think He can make all things new again? He has all the power, we simply need to make the choice to let go and give Him the power over our lives, even when it doesn’t make sense.

Trust God, and Do Good…
